How to inspect the battery?

There are some points how to inspect the battery which are given below,

  1. Check the battery does not have loose posts, and the case is not cracked, bulging, or showing signs of leaking fluid.
  2. Check the battery surface is free of dirt and moisture.
  3. Ensure the battery connections are clean and corrosion free.
  4. Ensure the cables of battery are properly sized.
  5. Check the battery cables have no frayed wires and the insulation is intact.
  6. Check the battery cables are flexible and bend freely. Popping or crackling sounds while bending the cables indicates corrosion. Replace the cables.
  7. Check the electrolyte solution if the battery has access. Add enough distilled water to maintain the electrolyte level just below the filler tube.
  8. Check that the battery is properly secured and the mounting hardware is not too tight.
  9. Check the performance test and charging of the battery.
  10. Test the voltages, float current and ripple current of the battery.
  11. Test the temperature of the battery, because it is very critical for batteries, as high temperatures reduces battery life.
